Hi friends! It may be August 1st right now, but I'm playing catch up this morning and going wayyy back to April to chat about the books I read that month. I read some really great stories back then and I wanted to share them with y'all today!

One of my top reads of the read. I was SHOCKED by how much I loved this book. It didn't sound like something I would love at all-rock and roll bands in the 70's...no thanks! But y'all, this book was beyond amazing. I couldn't think about anything else while I was reading this story. I know a lot of people were put off with the interview style of writing, but I didn't think it hindered the plot at all. It was SOOOO good!

My favorite thriller of the year so far. Oh my goodness, y'all. This book was SO unique and different from all the other thrillers out there. The last line was epic! My Lovely Wife will stay with you long after you finish it.

I was lucky enough to get an arc of KA Tucker's newest book that comes out in August. KA Tucker is one of my favorite authors and this book was just wonderful. It's about two people who meet at camp and fall in love and then reconnect years later when he starts working in her office building. Super sweet.

Y'all know I've gotten away from young adult in the past year, but I still always pick up the newest Jenn Bennett because she never disappoints. I didn't LOVE this book, but it was okay. I totally blame how busy I was with moving and settling in when I read it, but I just didn't connect to this one like I did her other ones. Alex Approximately is one of my all time favorite YA books!

Another book I totally blame on the stress of moving and unpacking because otherwise, this book would be one I completely fell in love with, but I just couldn't get into it. I'm going to try again when things settle down and I can give the book my full attention. I've heard such great things about it and I know I will love it!

Playing catch up again with the books I read back in May! Y'all bear with me as I try to get back into blogging after trying to get settled in the house. Whew! It's been a busy summer! :)

I have been wanting to read an Alafair Burke book for the longest because I've heard such great things. I picked up her newest thriller, The Better Sister, in May and loved it! I was constantly guessing and didn't see the ending coming at all. I really want to pick up The Wife now!

Fix Her Up has been on my highly anticipated list since I first saw it. I mean, not only is the cover gorgeous, but I'm a sucker for a rom com! This one was beyond cute and sweet and full of romance! I highly recommend. It is definitely R rated, which I didn't realize so just know that going in! :)

So, May is the busiest month in teaching and this year was no exception. Between ending the year, deciding to change grade levels (goodbye 5th, hello 2nd!) and moving classrooms, my reading started to struggle. I fell back on my favorite, go to, genre-quick read romances. Now, it's August 1st (remember I'm playing catch up) and I couldn't tell you one thing about this book, but I remember loving it and not being able to put it down. Not memorable, but still really really good!

Okay, I ended the month reading The Kiss Thief, which was a romance centered around the Chicago mob. What???  I NEVER would have read something like that, but I really wanted a quick read romance and the cover of this one suckered me in.  Y'all, it was surprisingly really good. Again, R rated which I didn't know based on the cover, but I still remember details from this one. I don't think it's for everyone, but I really enjoyed it!

Okay, that's my short list for May! :)
