There's nothing worse than a rainy, messy Monday morning, but having the chance to finally wear my favorite Christmas present did manage to brighten up my day a little bit. Hope everyone had a great Monday! Hopefully it wasn't messy where you're at :)

One of my New Year's resolutions was to finally break out my new camera and start using it! I got it back in June and it's been taunting me from its bag ever since. There's so many buttons and features that it was just overwhelming. I've been making a conscious effort to bring it places and take pictures. One cold afternoon, I decided to put on my absolute favorite pink J.Crew coat and practice with the camera. Who doesn't love a pink coat with an adorable little bow on it? I call that perfection. :)

I'm going to start a new little series that I like to call "Try/ Don't Try". It's sort of like a product spotlight where I give my thoughts on a certain product.
To start off the series, I'm talking about a stocking stuffer I received during Christmastime.

I've seen this product for awhile now and always walked right on by. $22.50 for what is basically a Chapstick. Even I thought that was crazy and I can pretty much justify anything when it comes to fashion or beauty products. I have always wanted to try it though, so I put it on my wish list and received it as a stocking stuffer.
Oh my goodness, y'all it's worth every bit of that $22.50. I've been using it constantly and I'm almost about to run out. I've NEVER ran out of a Chapstick. It's that good. I love putting it on before I apply lipstick. It makes the lipstick apply much more smoothly and feels a lot more moisturizing.

{My thoughts}
 Definitely try this. You'll never use another lip balm again. Although it is a bit pricey, it's worth it!

{Day One}

I started off 2014 by having a dinner with my sweet family. Here's my gorgeous cousin, Emily

{Day Two}

Back to work bright and early with a faculty meeting

{Day Three}

Friday night was SOO cold, so I decided to stay in and catch up on my magazines
{Day Four}

Fedex surprised me with a Saturday delivery. I decided to pull a Carrie Bradshaw and order myself a new pair of shoes. Too bad I ordered the wrong size :( They are gorgeous though, so hopefully it won't take them too long to return to me.

{Day Five}

Sunday morning. Perfection.

Week one was short because the new year started on Wednesday, but I'm going to do weekly recaps every Sunday so next week will have all 7 days :)

With the weather so dreary this time of year, I always look to brighten up my makeup routine and one of my favorite ways to do that is by shopping for new lip colors. My favorite go to brands for lippys are Mac and YSL. I have yet to find anything I prefer over these two brands. After reading The Sweetest Thing blog, I discovered these three new Mac colors, which I can already tell are going to be my new favorites. The YSL ones were gifts from Santa and have already been on my lips numerous times :)

I love making New Year's Resolutions. We all need a fresh start sometimes and now's the perfect time! I always try and resolve to exercise and eat right and while those are on my list this year, my number one goal is to blog more often. I was looking at the blog archive the other day and I had no idea just how little I blogged these last few months. My teaching blogs Life in First Grade and Life in Fifth Grade (along with this fashion/beauty blog) are so important to me and I need to make more time for them.
My goal is to blog at least 4-5 times a week. One new way I'm making a conscious effort to post more is something I like to call #LAeveryday2014. If you read Shay Shull's (The Bachelor Sean Lowe's sister) blog then you're probably familiar with #Shayeveryday2013. This takes place on Instagram and Shay posted one pic everyday for the entire year. At the end of 2013, she had 365 pics, one from each day of the year. She did this as a way to document her year and I absolutely loved this idea! Thus, #LAeveryday2014 was born. At the end of each week, I'll recap my weekly pics here if you don't have Instagram and still want to follow along, but if you do, be sure and follow me (msleslieann01).
I'm now off to savor my last few hours of Christmas break, which has never been as short as it was this year :(
Hope everyone had a wonderful NYE! :)
